A Typical Greenhouse Base
The average greenhouse base is constructed as follows:
- Dig out as necessary for the ground conditions.
- Lay a good quality Geotech membrane.
- Fill with crushed stone and level with a vibrating compactor plate - typically 150mm thick.
- Lay heavy duty concrete paving slabs (600mm x 600mm x 50mm) on a cement bed.
- Point in the slabs.
- Tidy the base edges by grading the adjacent soil to suit.
Bases
Typical Summerhouse Base
Constructed to 8ft x 8ft dimensions so the building will sit precisely on top. 18 inch gap left to the side and rear for the maintenance of future buildings and existing fence.
Corner Summerhouse Base
Base for an 8ft x 8ft corner summerhouse. Additional paving slabs have been added in front of the 'higher traffic' door area to avoid bare lawn patches in the future.
Greenhouse Base
Constructed as described at the top of the page. The patio, path and shingled area have been laid on a similar sub-base.
